About the Event
If you’ve ever wished you could promote your work on television but have no idea where to begin—or you’re too intimidated to try—then this workshop is for you. Hear from a former broadcast journalist turned NC romance writer who has had success on both sides of the camera. From deciding how and when to make a contact, to prepping for an on-camera interview, to utilizing the finished product to keep your message going, you’ll learn how to maximize your chances of securing a segment on air. We’ll also talk about print opportunities as well.
NOTE: A recording will be available for one week after the event.
About the Speaker
Jan Morrow Dawson is the author of women’s fiction romance set on Hatteras Island. She began visiting the Outer Banks with her family in 1964. She has had previous careers in marketing and public relations, in broadcast journalism, and in the non-profit sector through the local, national and international YMCA movements. In 2005 she did humanitarian work in Kosovo with the United Methodist Committee on Relief. When she returned to Hatteras in 2015 to care for her mother, she reconnected with her old beach boyfriend after a 40-plus year separation and they married in 2016. She then spent eight years in the hospitality business at the Cape Hatteras Motel doing everything from laundry to handling the front desk to social media. Now both retired from the motel business, the Dawsons reside in Buxton on Hatteras Island in the home her parents built. Tangled Lines is her third book.
